Hyundai Grandeur
Not only tram.news are celebrating a jubilee, Hyundai Motor Company also has reason to celebrate: the Korean carmaker is bringing back the “Grandeur“, their former flagship, on its 35th birthday in an electric restored and modified (restomod) variant.

Retro Charm and Modern Technology
After Hyundai designers relaunched the 1975 “Pony” in electric format as part of the “Heritage Series“, Hyundai is now re-interpreting the first generation Grandeur as an all-electric car in a unique blend of vintage and modern.
The Zeitgeist of the 1980s returns
The updated luxury sedan is based on the box-shaped 1986 original. The angular appearance has simply been modernised with newly shaped exterior mirrors, new disc wheels and new side protection strips. The LED headlights and tail-lights are particularly eye-catching in Parametric Pixel format taken from the current IONIQ 5 series model. Many small square light units give the Grandeur a futuristic look.
The interior also blends retro elements and state-of-the-art technology: all dashboard analogue instruments and switches are replaced by an ultra-wide touchscreen, which also controls the advanced 18-speaker sound system. There is another touchscreen in front of the middle console. The middle console itself contains a hidden compartment for valuables.
The 80s style, however, is preserved by the single-spoke steering wheel and jet-style gear selector. The front seats, upholstered in burgundy velvet as 35 years ago, also take their cue from the original Grandeur. The backs of the seats are made of elegant maroon nappa leather, laced like a corset, to create a dignified feel-good atmosphere. LED lights in the headliner and side trim create a flattering bronze-coloured lighting effect in the interior, reminiscent of the illumination of historical audio equipment. As regards drive, Hyundai is not giving much away, save to say that the internal combustion engine is replaced by an electric powertrain.
