A Comeback with Clout

Ford is launching a new edition of their classic Mustang Although little has changed under the bonnet, there are some interesting innovations, especially in the cockpit. The market launch in Germany is planned for summer 2023, and a new performance variant called "Dark Horse" will be available for the first time. By Sigrid Riewe-Scholz.

One striking feature is the unusually large interior widescreen display which extends from the centre console to behind the steering wheel and is complemented by angular air vents. The infotainment system has been modernised and can now be updated over-the-air.

Unlike the electric Mustang Mach-E, which Ford already offers on the German market, the "real" Mustang continues to rely on petrol as a drive option. The core of the powertrain line-up remains the 5.0-litre V8 internal combustion engine, but a revised version is said to produce more than 338 kW/480 hp of power. Both a ten-speed automatic and a six-speed manual transmission with automatic rev matching are available.
