Jeep Wrangler Magneto 3.0 Concept

The off-road power pack, the Jeep Wrangler Magneto, has made its third debut in Moab, Utah, home of the Jeep®. The Jeep design team developed this unique off-road vehicle in order to explore and extend the boundaries of electrification.  By Sigrid Riewe-Scholz

Originally launched as Jeep Magneto 1.0 Concept in 2021, the vehicle impressed as a fully capable battery electric vehicle (BEV) with low-noise operation and impressive 4 x 4 performance. Based on the 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, the Magneto has a custom-built axial-flux electric motor which is connected to six-speed manual transmission. Power was increased from 210 kW to 460 kW in the Jeep Magneto 2.0 (2022) for extended off-road capacity.

The latest version, the Jeep Magneto 3.0, comes with more improvements. Its highlights are a more efficient motor, updated software for 20 % more energy and range as well as three selectable functions for different off-road situations. These include choice of two power stages (210 kW standard or 478 kW maximum), a two-step regeneration mode and a down-hill drive mode for demanding off-road driving.

To support these functions, the Jeep Magneto 3.0 is equipped with high-quality components including Dynatrac axles, 20-inch off-road wheels with beadlock function and 40-inch all-terrain tires. A three-inch lift in chassis also enhances off-road performance.

Proportions and interior have also been optimised. The door opening has been modified and the B pillar moved for ease of access. The front fender and the windshield have also been adapted to round off the picture.

Looking inside the Jeep Magneto 3.0 Concept, blue leather seats with red-accent stitching catch the eye. The rear seats have been designed with function in mind, and the floor is protected with Rhino lining in Surf Blue.
