Ford Explorer: The SUV which is conquering the world – and winner of the Red Dot Award!

Cologne, where joie de vivre meets the latest electro-kick! The Ford Explorer, the new electric SUV, not only looks chic, it has also won the prestigious Red Dot Award for outstanding product design. A real success – and with hardly any effort! By Sigrid Riewe-Scholz

A design which stands out

The vehicle which was developed by European design gurus impresses with its striking exterior, which can even keep up with its big brother from the USA. Murat Güler, the Chief Designer, proudly explains: “We opted for a reduced design language with striking graphic elements!” The black A-pillars make the roof appear like something from another planet – who needs a spaceship if you can be king of the road in an SUV?

Functionality that inspires

Inside you find the best interior which Ford has ever built in Europe! The cockpit looks as if it has been given a welcoming embrace from the door panels. The chunky air vents are a thing of the past, replaced by futuristic speaker panels that look like soundbars. There literally is music in the air!

No end of power

The Explorer comes in two drive variants: with rear-wheel drive and 286 PS or in four-wheel drive version and 340 PS. Guaranteed to not just impress the neighbours, but the entire neighbourhood. Both models are powered by a lithium-ion battery consisting of an undisclosed mixture of nickel, manganese and cobalt. Maybe it also has a secret energy drink!

Price-wise a steal

All of this from a starting price of 42,500 euro. Admittedly, not a bargain, but who can resist a designer item in the form of an SUV? After all, you can shake up the traffic with this elegant outfit!

Conclusion

By selecting the Ford Explorer, the international jury of the world’s highly respected design award opted for an electric vehicle and a design which is second to none. Whether in the city or the country, this SUV is a real eye-catcher and now a Red Dot Award winner! Maybe we should plan a trip in the Ford Explorer – completely electric, of course!
