Optimised Solutions for Oslo

First deployment of point machine H715 in Scandinavia

One particular new development is the deployment of the point machines of the H715 series in connection with three PLS.SnowProtect hollow bearers. The electro-hydraulic point machines are optimally designed for use in flat-bottom rails and are the perfect complement to the point machines of the 61.1 series which are installed in the traversable grooved rails in the depot area. Easy to maintain and with a modular and clearly organised structure, the H715 point machine saves vital capacity when maintaining the line network.

PLS.SnowProtect: Reliable protection for extreme winter conditions

The rough Norwegian climate which is known for severe snow fall and extreme temperatures poses particular challenges for tram technology. To ensure the points function smoothly in winter, too, PLS.SnowProtect hollow bearers made by Bharat Forge CDP were selected. These sleepers are equipped with a completely encapsulated, movable cover which effectively protects the locking device from snow ingress. In addition, a heating element is integrated into the hollow sleeper which heats the point tongue and prevents it from freezing solid. 

A perfectly coordinated overall system for maximum reliability

The combination of point machine H715 and the PLS.SnowProtect hollow bearers constitutes a robust and weather-resistant system which has been specially developed for challenging environments. Point machine H715 is mounted directly to the hollow sleeper while the adjustable cover of the rod canal protects the setting and detector rods from snow and water. The result is a reliable, low-maintenance overall system which can optimally cope with the particular requirements of winter in Norway and guarantees smooth operations.
