Travelling back in time on Bremen‘s heritage trams
The association of friends of Bremen‘s tramway (Freunde der Bremer Straßenbahn e.V.) invite passengers to travel back in time through the history of Bremen in their heritage trams. The club operates the Bremer tram museum with 20 heritage vehicles. Nine of these are operational and some of them run on special routes in the city. This year a heritage bus joined the collection. One particular highlight are runs on vehicles from the 1950s, the years of Germany’s economic miracle the so-called “Wirtschaftswunder-Jahre“. On these tours, conductors provide interesting insights into the history of the city of Bremen and life and work in days gone by. In the museum itself, visitors can learn about historic control stands, signalling installations and the world of work of tramway staff in former times.
Museum lines 9, 15 and 16 offer nostalgic fans the treat of trips on original heritage vehicles.
The association offers another special attraction in Advent: Linie 16 brings passengers to the Christmas market on the Advent Sundays. Vintage Car 811 generates a festive atmosphere on runs between the main station and Domsheide. On the 4. Advent Sunday, Santa Claus himself is on board, to the delight of all passengers big and small.
The heritage vehicles operated by the Freunde der Bremer Straßenbahn e.V. bring the history of Bremen’s trams to life and offer visitors and locals an unforgettable experience.
