The World has suddenly Changed.
Dear Readers,
In our last tram.news, we celebrated the one hundredth edition of our customer newsletter. However, then followed a never-ending string of bad news which concern everyone. The Covid-19 Omicron variant is a highly-infectious virus which confines all of us. Then came February 24th, 2022, the day on which Russia invaded Ukraine. In addition to the suffering which the people of Ukraine have to endure, the prices for energy and materials are rising above average. Supply chains are disrupted or even cut off. Then China closed the port of Shanghai as part of their zero-Covid strategy, making the situation even worse.
While we at HANNING & KAHL are proud of being able to continue to produce with just a few impediments, the circumstances described above make our daily business more difficult. Despite working to full capacity, disrupted supply and material chains could cause delays. Please let me apologise here and now for any inconvenience you may incur. We assure you that we shall do everything in our power to avoid negative impact or keep it to a minimum.
And yet there are glimmers of hope with which I would like to end this editorial. Rail-based public transport remains a hot topic and a vital cornerstone for climate change. We are able to participate in many projects around the world thanks to you, our customers. For this and for your confidence in HANNING & KAHL we would like to express our sincere gratitude.
The next edition of our tram.news will appear around the InnoTrans. I hope we will meet again face to face at the fair and I look forward to seeing you there.
With best wishes from Oerlinghausen and the hope of a swift end to the war in Ukraine.
Christian Schmidt
Managing Director
